Terms & Conditions for Reservations

At the club's discretion, online bookings may be moved up to 20 minutes before or after the time selected online. You will be notified by email if there is a change to your tee time.

Bookings made for fewer than four players may be paired up at the club's discretion.

Payment

A 50% deposit is required to secure your tee time(s) with the balance to be paid on the day of play. On the Day of Play, please ensure the remaining balance of Green Fees is made at the Pro Shop as one single payment for the Group and not individually.

Cancellation

Cancellation Policy is 30 days prior to date of play. Payments are non-refundable or transferable for any players or reservations cancelled less than 30 days prior. Refunds are not available for cancellations due to sickness, personal injury, or delayed/cancelled flights. We recommend all golfers to arrange suitable travel insurance which covers these eventualities.

Amendments

Subject to availability, reservation amendments can be made by contacting us directly at [email protected] or 01333 450 686. Advanced Reservations made on a Visitor rate cannot be changed to a Scottish rate at a later date and no refunds will be issued.

Old Course Ballot

Visitors who choose to play the Old Course through the ballot system rather than honour a reservation at Crail are encouraged to rebook (depending on availability) either Balcomie or Craighead providing that sufficient notice is provided. Should it not be possible to rebook, or less than 24 hours notice is provided, payment will be forfeited.

Scottish Golf Club Reservations

Scottish Golf Club rates are subject to availability and are bookable within 7 days of date of play.

Juniors

The Junior rate applies to players aged 17 years and younger on the day of play. Maximum of two Juniors per tee time.

Buggies

Balcomie and Craighead are walking experience golf courses. Buggies are available for players with a medical certificate, or a blue badge. Buggy use is subject to weather conditions and the decision of the Course Manager is final. Players are required to hold a driving licence and sign a disclaimer.

Caddies

Single Caddies and Fore Caddies are available and must be requested in advance. Caddie fees and optional gratuity are made directly to the Caddies in cash in pounds sterling on the day of play. We will endeavour to fulfil all requests for caddies; however, caddie availability cannot always be guaranteed. Caddies requested and allocated in advance which are subsequently cancelled by the player on the day of play will incur the full caddie fee.

All caddies are members of the Society and in charge of their group of golfers. They are required to keep players safe, protect the course, keep pace at our mandate, and to let any Member groups go through if necessary.

Practice Facilities

All green fees include full use of our practice facilities prior to play. Practice facilities open 30 minutes prior to the first tee time of the day and include a driving range, short game area and large practice putting green. The practice facilities are closed every Tuesday from 10:30am for junior coaching.

Etiquette

It is expected that golfers are competent, maintain an acceptable pace of play and behaviour. It is acceptable to enjoy a tipple at the 10th tee, but excess consumption of alcohol will not be tolerated. The playing of music during a round is not permitted.  The use of drones is not permitted, unless permission has been granted for business use, and the taking of photographs should not interrupt the enjoyment of the courses for other golfers. Should golfers not adhere to standard golf etiquette, they will be asked to leave the course.

Pace of Play

Pace of play is typically 4 hours for a fourball. Players who do not co-operate with the Course Marshal will be asked to leave the course.

Bad Weather

If the course(s) are declared by the club to be unplayable your deposit will be refunded unless rescheduling has been requested.

Insurance

Playing golf carries known risks and golfers are expected to have the appropriate insurance. Crail Golfing Society has mitigated the risks as far as is reasonably practicable and cannot be held responsible for accidental ball strikes.
